     Asa Underwood Jr. was baptized on 24 December 1797 in Tyngsborough, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.2 He was the son of Asa Underwood and Mercy Durant.1 He married Ann Eliza Bradt "of the glass factory" on 15 February 1822 in Chelmsford, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.1 He died on 20 October 1826 in Chelmsford at age 28. He was 30 years of age according to the church record.1 According to the inscription on his gravestone at Woodbine Cemetery, Dracut (now Lowell), Middlesex County, Massachusetts, he died 15 November 1826 at age 29.3,4
     
     Family tradition is that Asa Jr. was a sharpshooter and served in the War of 1812. No supporting documentation has been found.
