     Thomas D. Underwood was born on 26 October 1802 in Tyngsborough, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.1,2,3 He was the son of Asa Underwood and Mercy Durant.1 He was baptized on 13 February 1803 in Tyngsborough.4 He married Augusta Varnum, daughter of Jonathan Varnum and Dolly (—?—), on 28 April 1847 in Dracut, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.5,6 He died of "old age" on 15 August 1881 at age 78.7,2,8 He was buried in Woodbine Cemetery, Dracut (now Lowell), Middlesex County, Massachusetts.1,2
