William Hinton O'Neal was born on 26 January 1825 in Johnston County, North Carolina.1 He was the son of William O'Neal and Serena Hinton.1 He married Sally Hare on 9 February 1842 in Johnston County, North Carolina.1 He married Mary Evelyn Robertson, daughter of William T. Robertson, in March 1847.1 He married Nellie O'Neal on 2 January 1879.1 He died on 12 April 1888 at age 63.1
