     Reverend Robert Miller Simmons was born on 22 May 1822 in Jackson County, Tennessee.2 He was the son of John Simmons and Naomi Jared.1 He married Julia Frances Leftwich on 3 February 1845.2 He died on 2 May 1898 in Salem, Missouri, at age 75.2
     
     Reverend Robert Miller Simmons was a licensed Southern Methodist preacher. He was named for his great grandfather, Robert Miller, who married Jean Pickens, sister of General Andrew Pickens of the Revolution.2
