Denny M. Hahn was born circa 1830 in Lincoln County (Catawba since 1842), North Carolina.1 He was the son of Frederick Hahn and Elizabeth Fisher.1

Denny M. Hawn appeared on the 1 June 1850 Federal Census of Catawba County, North Carolina, in the household of his parents, Frederick and Elizabeth Hawn. That he was a child of Frederick and Elizabeth is based solely on his presence in their household in the 1850 census. He was a 20 year old farmer who could neither read or write.1
