Robert Pickens was born in France.1 He was the son of Robert (Andre) Pickens and Esther Jane Benoit.1
Traditionally he was born in France and taken to Scotland, then to Northern Ireland, by his parents following the Revocation of the Edict of Nantes in 1685. It is said that he and his brothers Andrew, John and William came to America about 1719, entering either at Philadelphia or New Castle.
