Joe U. Munson Jr.
The family was living at Sandy Point when Joe was born. In 1942 they moved to Bailey's Prairie where they lived with Joe's grandparents, George and Louise Munson. In anticipation of Joe Jr. starting school, the family moved to Angleton in 1944.
Joe was an outstanding student and athlete. He played football, basketball, and participated in track and field events at Angleton High School. He was football co-captain his senior year, and was awarded a football scholarship to Texas A&M where he played for Bear Bryant and Jim Myers. He graduated third in his high school class, and in college he received recognition his senior year as the outstanding engineering student.2 He graduated in 1960 from Texas A&M College with a degree in civil engineering and a second lieutenant commission in the United States Army.2 After graduation, Joe lived in Louisiana and in Dallas before relocating to Houston in 1969.2
