     Capt. William Bailey was born on 10 October 1719 in Newbury, Essex County, Massachusetts.1 He was the son of John Bailey and Sarah Butler.1 He married first Anna Lowell of Amesbury on 25 November 1742.2 He married second Mary (—?—) who was an invalid about all of her married life.2 He died on 23 August 1788 at age 68.1
     
     Capt. William Bailey was a shipbuilder, and lived in Amesbury, Essex County, Massachusetts, having his yard at the "ferry." He gave his building-yard to his sons James and Daniel. His estate was valued at £1090, 14s. 6d.2 He and Anna Lowell had seven children, two sons and five daughters, all born in Amesbury, Essex County, Massachusetts.2
