     Dr. Joshua Bailey was born in 1685, probably in Killingworth, Middlesex County, Connecticut.1 He was the son of Rev. James Bailey and Mary Carr.1 He was published to Esther Ashley of Braintree 18 November 1708, but married Elizabeth Johnson on 25 April 1715.2 He died on 7 February 1752 in Haverhill, Essex County, Massachusetts.1
     
     Dr. Joshua Bailey removed to Roxbury, Massachusetts, with his father when about seven years old. He studied medicine and moved to Newbury about 1707. About two years later he moved to Haverhill where he practiced medicine and surgery during the remainder of his life. He became a captain, colonel, and an esquire.1

Additional Data
In 1713 Joshua Bayley, "late of Roxbury, now of Newbury," surgeon, was deeded the old homestead by his childless uncle Joshua Bailey that it might continue in the name and blood.3
