Jonathan Butterfield was born in Chelmsford, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.1 He was the son of Jonathan Butterfield and Mary Dixon.1 He married Ruth Wright, daughter of John Wright and Abigail (—?—), on 20 March 1693/94 in Woburn, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.1 He died in 1744, as on 18 June in that year, the widow Ruth and sons Jonathan, John and William signed the mother's bond as administratrix of the estate of Jonathan Butterfeild, late of Cambridge, deceased intestate.1
