     Mary Butterfield was the daughter of Samuel Butterfield and Mary (—?—).1 She married Samuel Spalding, son of John Spalding, on 30 June 1698 in Chelmsford, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.1,2 She died in 1726 in Canterbury, Windham County, Connecticut.1
     
     Mercy was mentioned in her father Samuel Butterfield's will dated 26 April 1703.1 Mary and Samuel Spalding moved in 1706 to Canterbury, New London County, Connecticut.1 They had six children, three born in Chelmsford and three in Canterbury.1
