Robert Butterfield was born on 16 September 1716 in Chelmsford, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.3 He was the son of Jonathan Butterfield and Elizabeth Chamberlain.2 He of Westford married Mehitable Boynton on 7 January 1744/45 in Westford, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.4,5 He of Westford married Joanna Butterfield, daughter of Samuel Butterfield and Rachel Spalding, on 24 February 1752 in Westford.1 He died 23 October 1756 near Lake George at age 40.6
