     James Pearce Caldwell was born on 6 October 1861 in San Marcos1 He was the son of Robert Milam Caldwell and Mary Elizabeth House.1,2 He married first Fannie Ellen Schofield on 9 February 1886 in Knox City, Knox County, Missouri.2 He married second Frances Toombs after 1927.3 He died on 14 November 1935 in Coleman, Coleman County, Texas, at age 74.1,4 He was buried on 15 November 1935 in Coleman.1
     
     James Pearce Caldwell was a successful Texas rancher and operated the San Marcos Ranch and the Blanco Ranch at Coleman, Texas.5
