     Nancy Hanks was born on 10 November 1807.1 She was the daughter of John Hanks and Jane Douglas Armstrong.1 On 8 April 1828, John Holt took out a marriage bond from the clerk of the court in Orange County, North Carolina, as surety that there was no legal obstacle to the proposed marriage between he and Nancy Hanks. E.M. Holt was bondsman; Michl Holt, witness.2
