     Bettie Joyce Munson was born on 18 June 1929 in Wharton County, Texas.2 She is the daughter of Milam Stephen Munson Jr. and Emily Elizabeth Burnaby.1 She married Lieut. Ward C. Patton Jr. on 26 February 1952 in James Connally AFB, Waco, McLennan County, Texas, upon Ward's graduation from flight training.3
     Bettie Joyce has spent her married life in the Midwest, first as a mother and officer's wife and later as a rural pastor's wife. She and Ward celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary in 2006, and are enjoying retirement in Appleton, Wisconsin.3
