     Enoch Morris was born before 12 March 1756 in Hilltown, Bucks County, Pennsylvania.1,3 He was the son of Morris Morris and Gwently Thomas.1 He married Mary Caldwell on 19 March 1776 (license date).1,3 He died circa 1817 in Halifax, Halifax County, Nova Scotia.1
     
     Reverend Joseph Mathias wrote in his journal:
Enoch Morris married _____ Caldwell, by whom he had one son named James. In the time of the Revolutionary war and while the British had possession of Philada in the winter of 1777 & 1778; Enoch Morris; Thomas Lewis - Edward Jones and others fled to the British army - were what was termed in that day refugees and tories _ and when the British left Philada they accompanied them either willingly or by constraint; They went to Novascotia and there abode.4
