     James Caldwell Morris was born on 10 February 1778 in Bucks County, Pennsylvania.1 He was the son of Enoch Morris and Mary Caldwell.1 He married Jane Thompson on 9 January 1798 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania.1 He died on 25 June 1828 at age 50.1 He was buried in Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio.1
     
     James Caldwell Morris was in the Algerian War on the naval ship "Philadelphia" under Bainbridge as Purser, and was a prisoner of the Algerians for 19 months.1,2
