Family Background:
Underwood and Allied Families
Abigail Day was the daughter of Joseph Day.1 She and William Thomas Jr. obtained a marriage license on 17 January 1751 in Pennsylvania.2,3 She died in 1811 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County.1 She was buried in Lower Hilltown Baptist Church Cemetery.1

"She was the only child of her parents, and in her youth her character was evil and wayward. After her marriage her attractions brought more admiration and attention from other persons than was creditable to a married woman."1 Her husband was found dead, apparently strangled, in the doorway of their home the morning after a night of intemperance. If tradition is correct, Abigail stood trial in Newtown for the murder, but was acquitted for lack of sufficient evidence. In her later years she became penitent and joined the Hilltown Baptist Church in 1800.2,1

Additional Data
Abigail Thomas was mentioned in her husband William Thomas Jr.'s will dated 20 January 1763 in Philadelphia County (now Montgomery), Pennsylvania.2
