Henry Munson IV
     Henry William Munson IV was born on 4 January 1888 at the Van Place, north of Bailey's Prairie, Brazoria County, Texas.1,2 He was the son of George Caldwell Munson and Hannah Dyer Adriance. He married Elsie McCauley on 4 June 1914 in Hustburg, Humphreys County, Tennessee.1 He died on 6 May 1977 in Brazoria County, Texas, at age 89.3,2
     
     Henry was raised at the "Van Place" and in Angleton, and graduated from Angleton High School. Afterward he attended Texas A&M College where he graduated with a degree in engineering. He worked all of his years as an engineer—as an independent surveyor, as county surveyor for many years, and finally with the Briscoe Irrigation Company of Alvin. He also raised cattle on his land in Brazoria County. Soon after Henry and Elsie married, they built a new home in Angleton on "Munson Row" at what is now 632 South Walker Street. They lived there the remainder of their lives.4

Henry William Munson Jr. registered for the World War I draft 5 June 1917 at Angleton, Brazoria County, Texas. Described as being of medium height and build with brown eyes and black hair, he was a married stockman and farmer in Angleton, working on his own account. He had prior military service of one year as a lieutenant in the infantry at Texas A&M College, and claimed an exemption to care for his family.7
