Writers note: I met Cousins Ellen and Wendell in 1980. I received the sad news that Cousin Addie Yates had died, and knowing that they were close as youngsters, I decided to call. They were as gracious as any people I have ever known. They invited us to their home in Fort Worth on a number of occasions where I never tired of stories about the family and their own lives. We always parked at their house during the Colonial Golf Tournament and walked the block to the course. They were the second or third family to join Colonial, and they told many stories about Ben Hogan and the social scene at Colonial and in Fort Worth. By the time I met them, Cousin Wendell's heath was very poor and neither was able to attend the tournament, but they were always anxious for an update when we returned. They were a delight to be around. Ellen and Wendell Fowler had no children.
