Joshua L. Horn
     Joshua Lawrence Horn was born on 13 August 1842 (or 20 August according to his gravestone) in Sumter County, Alabama.1,2,3 He was the son of Elisha Thomas Horn and Marilda Richardson.1 He married first Harriet H. Johnson on 21 January 1864 in Leake County, Mississippi.1 He and Harriet H. Johnson were divorced in February 1868.1 He married second Rachel Harriett Yates on 4 April 1873 in Leake County, Mississippi.1 He died on 28 February 1916 in Knox County, Texas, at age 73.4,1,3 He was buried in Vera, Knox County, Texas. A marker at his grave, reads, "J.L. Horn, 2nd Bn. Inf., Waul's Texas Legion, C.S.A."1,3
     
     Joshua Lawrence Horn fathered at least one illegitimate child.

Joshua Lawrence Horn enlisted for a period of three years on 28 April 1862 at Fairfield, Freestone County, Texas, and mustered into Captain L.D. Bradley's Company B, Waul's Texas Legion. He was captured on 4 July 1863 at Vicksburg, Mississippi, and was paroled according to the terms of capitulation entered into by the commanding generals of the United States and Confederate forces.7

J.N. and Harrite Horn appeared on the 1 June 1880 Federal Census of Centre township, Attala County, Mississippi, enumerated 23 June 1880. Their children Alonzo and Luther were listed as living with them.8 Click to view image
