Joseph Chase was born on 26 February 1689 in Martha's Vineyard, Dukes County, Massachusetts.1 He was the son of Lieutenant Isaac Chase and Mary Tilton.1 He married Lydia Coffin on 26 July 1714.1 He died on 1 May 1749 at age 60.1 He was buried in Tower Hill Cemetery, Edgartown, Dukes County, Massachusetts.1
Joseph Chase was a hatter at Homes Hole.1 He removed to Nantucket before 1729 and later about 1737 to Edgartown where he and his wife are buried. He owned a lot on the harbor front of Edgartown, one of the "five and twenty" south of Main Street.1
