A marriage license was issued by the Archdeaconry of Nottingham for the marriage of John Robinson of Norwich, M.A., and Bridget White of Beauvale, Co. Nottingham, at Greasley, Nottinghamshire, England. They were married at Greasley, Nottinghamshire, 15 February 1603/4.2 He died on 19 February 1625/26 in Leyden, Holland.1

Reverend John Robinson was a Separatist - those who separated from the Church of England - and in England he was an assistant pastor. His congregation left England in secrecy and settled in Leyden, Holland, and there he was "pastor of the Pilgrim Fathers." He supported the scheme to emigrate to America in 1620, and planned to follow the next year with the rest of the congregation. However, the departure was delayed and he died in Holland.

In a letter dated June 1620, Reverend John Robinson wrote John Carver "My dear friend and brother whom with yours I always remember in my best affections."3,2
