     Michael Massingill was born on 1 March 1756 in Northampton County, North Carolina.1 He was the son of Henry Massingill and Mary Cobb.1 He married Dorcas Stone.1 He died in October 1853 in Grainger County at age 97.1
     
     Michael Massingill was a Revolutionary War soldier in Washington County, Tennessee, 1776-80,2 and was later of Jefferson and Grainger counties, Tennessee.1
