     Benjamin Read was born on 19 January 1779 in Westford, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.1 He was the son of Abel Read and Rebecca Farrar.1 He married Bridget Abbott, daughter of William Abbott and Bridget Spaulding, on 17 December 1807 in Chelmsford, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.2 He died on 21 January 1850 in Westford at age 71.3
     
     Benjamin and Bridget Read had one child.4
