Pedigree for Louise Underwood
Mercy Parish was born on 5 January 1667/68 in Groton, Middlesex County, Massachusetts. She was the daughter of Robert Parish and Mercy Crisp.2 She of Dunstable married Lieut. Josiah Richardson, son of Josiah Richardson and Remembrance Underwood, on 14 December 1687 in Chelmsford.1,3,4 She died on 25 April 1743 at age 75.1,4

Although her given name as recorded in Groton birth records is Mary, most all later records refer to her as Mercy.

Marcy Richerdson was named in her father Robert Parish's will dated 21 August 1709 in Chelsea, Suffolk County, Massachusetts. After the decease of her stepmother Elizabeth Parish, the lands left to her (Elizabeth) for life were to be equally divided between Robert's two daughters Marcy Richerdson and Hannah Goffe, as were, after the sale of land to satisfy any debts, any land that remained in the estate.5

Mercy Richardson was appointed executor of her late husband Lieut. Josiah Richardson's estate on 21 November 1711 in Chelmsford, Middlesex County, Massachusetts. On 14 November 1712, Mercy Richardson presented her account, showing the value of the estate to have been £514 : 4 : 0, and payments of £78 : 2 : 7 which she had made were allowed. The bill of Dr. Roger Toothaker was £2 and that of Dr. Jonathan Prescot £5 : 5 : 0. Benjamin Fitch had supplied gloves for the funeral worth £2. Francis Foxcroft, the Judge of Probate, made a note on a separate sheet that "Mr Hildreth the Husbd of Mercy Hildreth p abt 20li before the father dyed for wh he has released his right in behalfe of his wife Mercy in the fathers estate both in lands & moveables & must be taken off this accot & must be left out upon the dividend of this estate, but the release must be lodged in this office first." Judge Foxcroft ordered the widow's dower of one-third of the estate set off on 17 November and directed that the other two-thirds be carefully valued as he had granted the request of the eldest son, Josiah Richardson, to which the widow and the guardians of the minor children had consented, that Josiah should buy the said two-thirds.
