John Stowell was born on 14 July 1687 in Hingham, Suffolk County, Massachusetts.1,2 He was the son of John Stowell and Mary Beal.1,2 Marriage intention of John Stowell and Elizabeth Eells was published 23 September 1710.3 He married second Deborah Garnet, daughter of Stephen Garnet and Sarah Warren, on 6 January 1714/15.3 He married third Margaret Stodder, widow of Israel Lincoln, daughter of Daniel Stodder and Margaret Macvarlo, on 10 April 1729.3 He died on 1 December 1767 at age 80.3 His will was proved on 18 December 1767.3
John Stowell was a constable in 1723.3 He and Elizabeth Eells had two children, both born in Hingham.3 He and Deborah Garnet had five children all born in Hingham.3 He and Margaret Stodder had one child born in Hingham.3 They lived on Fort Hill St.3
In his will of 25 November 1767, John Stowell bequeaths to wife Margaret; to grandchildren who are the children of his son John, deceased; to daughters Mary Joy, Deborah Tower, Elizabeth Stowell, and to son Stephen; witnessed by Elijah Lincoln, Isaac Lincoln and Nathaniel Lincoln.3 The inventory of the estate of John Stowell was appraised at Inventory was appraised at £390 00s. 3½d.3
