In his will of 21 September 1692, Samuel Champney mentions David Stowell and his grand children, Samuel Stowell and Ruth Stowell, children of his daughter Mary (Champney) Stowell, deceased; Samuel Stowell to receive his legacy when he is twenty-one and Ruth Stowell when she is seventeen.4 In a Codicil made 11 May 1694, Samuel Champney cancels his bequest to his son-in-law David Stowell, but does not cancel his bequest to David's children, Samuel's grandchildren, Samuel and Ruth.5
