Isaac Stowell was born on 6 October 1739 in Pomfret, Windham County, Connecticut.2 He was the son of David Stowell and Mary Foster.1 He married Phoebe Root on 9 February 1758 in Willington, Tolland County, Connecticut.3
Isaac Stowell was in Capt. Barker's Company, Col. Conant's Regiment to Fort William Henry in 1757.3 He enlisted in enlisted in Capt. Tristrum Davis' Company, on 10 March 1760, age 20, residence, Brimfield, father David, Col. John Worthington's Regiment.4 Isaac Stoel appears on account dated Charlestown, on 22 January 1761, rendered by John Foye for money paid to invalids on the Albany road returning from the West.5 Isaac Stoel and wife joined in Willington Church on 26 July 1761.3 Isaac Stowell bought land in Walpole, New Hampshire, 31 October 1765 of Benjamin Bellows.6 He lived in Willington, Tolland County, Connecticut, until circa 1767.3 Isaac Stoel and wife were admitted to Walpole Church 1768.3 Isaac was chosen Ensign in Capt. Wood's Company, in Rockingham, Vermont.5 He lived in Walpole, New Hampshire, until circa 1777, then Rockingham, Vermont.3 He was constable of Rockingham in 1777.5 He went to Ticonderoga in February 1777. He was color bearer.5 He took Oath of Allegiance to Vermont in June 1777.5 He and Phoebe Root had eight children.5
