     Samuel Johnston Thurber was the son of Isaac Thurber and Drusilla Hicks.1 He married Frances Lee.2 He married Margaret Baldwin, daughter of Henry Baldwin, on 8 May 1847. Announcement of their marriage was in the Quebec City Gazette.2
     
     Samuel Johnston Thurber settled after 1825 in Ireland twp.1 He lived in 1831 in the 5th Range of Ireland township, Lot 3, Megantic County, Quebec. There were seven living in the household.1
