Family Background:
Fairfield and Allied Families
Sarah Hammond was baptized on 13 September 1640 in Hingham, Massachusetts.3 She was the daughter of Thomas Hammond and Elizabeth Cason.1,2 She married second Nathaniel Stedman, son of Isaac Stedman and Elizabeth (—?—) (Stedman), before 1655 in Hingham, Massachusetts.4,2 She died before 30 September 1675, the date of her father Thomas Hammond's death as given on the inventory of his estate.1

By her father's will made in 1675, but otherwise undated, it is proved that Sarah had but two children, at least who lived, as he bequeathed land "unto her two daughters, which she left behind her, viz.: Sarah Stedman and Elizabeth Stedman." That Sarah had no other children suggests she may have died ten or more years before her father.2
