     Rev. Stephen Emery was born on 3 August 1707 in Wells, York County, Maine.1 He was the son of Rev. Samuel Emery and Tabitha Littlefield.1 He married Hannah Allen on 8 October 1742.2 He died on 24 May 1782 at age 74.2
     
     Rev. Stephen Emery was graduated in 1730 at Harvard College.2 He was ordained at Nottingham, New Hampshire in 1741. He was driven out by the Indians in 1748. From Nottingham he removed to Exeter, New Hampshire, afterwards to Chatham, Cape Cod, where he was installed and passed the remainder of his life. He was minister at Chatham thirty-three years during which period he admitted to the church 135 and baptized 681 persons.2
