     Aquila Underwood was born circa 1692.1 He was the son of Samuel Underwood and Sarah (—?—).1 He married Margaret circa 1720.1 He died on 29 May 1767 in Sandisfield, Berkshire County, Massachusetts.1
     
     Aquila Underwood lived in Westford, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, a town set off from Chelmsford in 1729.1 Aquila and Margaret Underwood had seven children between 1722/23 and 1731.1 He moved to Litchfield, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, in 1734, and on 29 July was authorized to call the first town meeting when he was elected moderator, town clerk and first selectman.1 He owned a farm of 228 acres at Litchfield in 1737.1 He was dismissed from the Westford church to that of Litchfield in 1741.1 By 1761 he had moved to Sandisfield where he was received into the church 26 July.1
