     Captain Jonathan Putnam was born on 17 March 1659 in Salem Village, Essex County, Massachusetts.1 He was the son of Captain John Putnam and Rebecca Prince.1 He was baptized on 14 July 1667 in First Church, Salem; 14: 5 mo: 1667.2 He married first Elizabeth Whipple, daughter of Thomas Whipple and Elizabeth (—?—).3 He married second Lydia Potter, daughter of Anthony Potter and Elizabeth Whipple?.3 He died on 2 March 1739 in Salem Village at age 79.3 He was buried in Wadsworth Cemetery, Danvers.3
