     Lieut. James Putnam was born on 4 September 1661 in Salem Village, Essex County, Massachusetts.1 He was the son of Captain John Putnam and Rebecca Prince.1 He was baptized 14: 5 mo: 1667 (14 July 1667) in First Church, Salem.2 He married first Sarah.3 He married second widow Mary Rea on 6 March 1719/20 at Salem, Essex County, Massachusetts.3 He died on 7 April 1727 in Salem Village at age 65.3
