John Farwell was baptized on 25 October 1635 in Boston, Lincolnshire, England.1 He was the son of Deacon Henry Farwell and Olive Welby.1 He married Sarah Wheeler, daughter of Timothy Wheeler and Jane (—?—), on 4 November 1658 in Concord, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.2,3 Sarah died in 1662, and he married second, Sarah Fiske, daughter of Reverend John Fiske of Chelmsford.2 He died in 1686 in Concord.2

John migrated with his parents Olive and Deacon Henry Farwell and sister Elizabeth to New England circa 1636.4 In 1666 John Farwell was taxed in Concord for 18 lots, 280 acres. This was probably land his father received in the division of lands in Concord of which John had possession in 1670, the date of his father's will, who bequeathed to him, "All my accommodations at Concord which he hath in present possession."5 He was made freeman on 11 October 1682.5 He was granted 12 1/2 acres of land in Chelmsford in 1682, and owned land in Concord in 1696.5
