Waverly Plantation in central Brazoria County was established by
William Kennedy of South Carolina on land purchased in 1842 and 1848. According to
The Handbook of Texas Online, William's son, William H., was operating the plantation in 1860, but upon William's death in 1869, his son
Walter inherited the plantation. Walter operated Waverly until about 1900 when he moved his family to Angleton.
