William Kennedy II1

     William Kennedy II was born in 1800 in Alexandria, Scotland.1 He married Mary Haile in 1831 or 1832 in Camden, Kershaw County, South Carolina.1 He died in 1869 in Brazoria County, Texas.2 He was buried in Old Columbia Cemetery, West Columbia, Brazoria County, Texas.2
     
     William Kennedy II came from Scotland and settled in South Carolina in 1830. He established Waverly Plantation, near Chenango, Brazoria County, Texas, on 400 acres of land purchased in 1842 and added 2,214 acres in 1848. He did not bring his family to Texas until after his South Carolina plantation, Snow Hill, was left in ruins by the War Between the States.3 He and Mary Haile had eleven children.4
