In the name of God Amen The Ninth Day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred & thirty one two I John Dyer of Braintree in the County of Suffolk in the Province of the Massachusetts Bay in New England Husbandman, being in health of Body and of perfect mind & memory, thanks be Given to God therefor; calling to mind the mortality of my Body and knowing that it is appointed for man once to Dye Do make and ordain this my Last will & Testament. That is to Say Principally & first of all I Give and Recommend my Soul into the hands of God that gave it hoping through the merits Death & Passion of my Saviour Jesus Christ to have full and free Pardon & Forgiveness of all my Sins, and to Inherit Everlasting Life; and my Body I commit to the Earth, to be decently Buried at the Discretion of my Executor hereafter named, nothing doubting but at the General Resurrection I shall Receive the same again by the mighty Power of God, and as touching such Wordly Estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me in this Life I Give Devise & Dispose of the same in the following manner & Form. That is to say First I Will that all those Debts & Duties which I owe in Right or Conscience to any Person or Persons whatsoever be well & truly contended & Paid in Convenient time after my Decease by my Executor hereafter named.
Item I give to Anna my well Beloved Wife (after the payment of my just debts and funeral charges) all my estate whatsoever both Real & Personal to be possessed Improved & Enjoyed by her with all the Profit & benefit thereof during her natural life with the liberty to sell any part of my moveable if her need so requires.
Item I Give and bequeth to my son William Dyer Fourty shillings to be paid to him his Heirs Executors or Administrators as is hereafter in this my will expressed and the reason why I give him no more is this: I having received sundry wounds from the Indians in the Eastern Warrs, have been rendered uncapable of Labour so that the small Estate I now have was procurred only by the Indudtry of my wife and the children I had by her since my son William left me.
Item I have given to my son Christopher Dyer in lands about one hundred Pounds already, and confirmed it to him his heirs & assigns by a deed of gift, which I always intended as his whole portion to which I now add five shillings to be paid as is hereafter mentioned.
Item I Give & bequeth to my Grandson Butcher Dyer, the son of my son Samuel Dyer Dec'd Ten Pounds to be paid to him his heirs & as is herein after expressed.
Item I Give and bequeth to my Daughter Anna (lately the wife of Ebenezer Pratt Dec'd) and to my son Jonathan Dyer and to my Daughter Sarah the wife of David Sloane and to my Daughter Mary the wife of Gornil Price, and my son John Dyer and to my Daughter Deborah Dyer Each of them Ten Pounds to be paid in time & manner as is hereafter in this my will expressed.
Item I Give & bequeth to my son Peter Dyer whom I likewise constitute make and ordain sole executor of this my last will & testament and to his heirs & assigns forever all & singular my lands housing and other estate whatsoever to be possessed & enjoyed by him & them from the time of my wifes decease. He his heirs Executors or administrators paying to each of my above mentioned children & Grand Children their heirs Executors or Administrators the above mentioned sums respectively given them in money or bills of credit within three years after his mothers decease. And I do hereby utterly disallow Revoke & Disannull all & every other former Testaments Wills Legacies Bequests and Executors by me in anyways before this time willed and bequethed ratifying & confirming this and no other to me my Last Will & Testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my Hand & Seal the Day & Year above written.
