John Reardon was born circa 1833 in Ohio.2 He married Dorcas Jane Cordrey, daughter of Moses Ayres Cordrey and Hannah Black, on 4 November 1852 in Tuscarawas County, Ohio.3,1 A Union soldie, John was wounded in the Battle of Kenesaw Mountain and and died on 4 July 1864 in Chattanooga, Tennessee.3
John and Dorcas Reardon appeared on the 1 June 1860 Federal Census of Fairfield township, Tuscarawas County, Ohio, enumerated 13 July 1860. Their children Elizabeth and William were listed as living with them.2

- [S949] "Francis Cordrey Journal," (MS, 1897; Fort Wayne, Indiana); Charles Horn; Pasadena, Texas. Hereinafter cited as "Cordrey Journal". In a handwritten journal, or more precisely a ledger that he used as a journal, Francis wrote the family history as he knew it. It was among a collection of Cordrey papers and memorabilia that was given to Charles Horn by Francis' granddaughters, Coreinne Bitner and Mildred Bitner Stier.
