Additional Data
Bennett Bryan made a will on 28 October 1787 in Cedar Creek Hundred, Sussex County, Delaware. Mentioned are wife Rachel Bryan, sons James Bryan, Shepherd Bryan and Jonathan Bryan and daughters Charity Bryan, Comfort Cordery, Elizabeth Bryan, Mary Bryan, Rachel Bryan, Sarah Bryan and Rebeckah Bryan; Shepherd Bryan, executor; witnesses John Jester, Daniel Sturgis, William Poynter. Wife Rachel, during her widowhood, and sons Shepherd and Jonathan were to share equally in the land, Rachel's one-third to go to James when his mother's interest ceased. Charity was bequeathed ten pounds; the other six daughters, twenty pounds; residue to be equally divided among all the children. Two of the named daughters, probably the last two, were minors (under 18).1

A Bennett Bryan from Sussex County was noted as being a prisoner of war, but no exact date was given.2 Though by the given name and location it's obvious he was a member of this family, he may have been a son (rather than our subject) who died before 1787 when Bennett made his will.
