The name of his wife was Mary. He died on 29 March 1671 in Concord, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.2,3,4
George Hayward was one of the earliest settlers of Concord having arrived there in 1635.5 He took the Freeman's Oath in March 1637/38.2 The cause of his death was accidental drowning. The jury of inquest found that he was "overthrowne by the strength of the streame and so drownded in the river by the iron workes as he was returning to goe home after he had bien healping william ffrizell over the river in a Cannoe."3 His estate valued at £506 was divided between his widow Mary and his children, John, Joseph, Simeon, George, Elizabeth Wheeler, Sara Prescott and Hannah Farrar. Joshua Wheeler, John Prescott and Jacob Farrar signed.5
