That Annie was born in Brazoria County is based on her parents' known residence in 1856. As a young teenager she was sent East to study at the Moravian Seminary for Young Ladies, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and appears in their Catalogue of Pupils for 1870 as "Morris, Annie B., d. of Anthony T. Morris, Columbia, Texas." Annie's aunt, Amanda M. Morris, had attended Moravian Seminary in 1823.5 After her marriage, she and Oliver may have lived for several years with Annie's parents in Round Rock, Williamson County, Texas where they and their young son were enumerated in the 1880 Census.
