     William Magil was born in 1779.1 He of Doylestown and Mary Morris, daughter of Benjamin Morris and Mary Mason, were married in March 1801 by the Reverend James McLaughlin, minister of Hilltown Baptist Church, in a double wedding ceremony with Mary's sister Rachel and Thomas Rowland.1,2 He died on 16 September 1824.1,3
     
     William Magil learned the clock making trade at Benjamin Morris's.2 Soon after they married they moved to Doylestown where they kept a public house for a number of years.4
