Thomas Thomas was born circa 1711 in Wales.1,2 He was the son of Reverend William Thomas and Ann Griffith.1 He married first Margaret Bates, daughter of Joseph Bates and Margaret Hammer, on 20 April 1735 in First Presbyterian Church, Philadelphia.2,3 He married second Mary Williams on 9 April 1742 in Philadelphia.2,3 He died in January 1780 in Hilltown, Bucks County, Pennsylvania.4 He was buried in Lower Hilltown Baptist Church Cemetery though no legible gravestone marks the spot.5 His will was proved on 15 March 1780.6

Thomas was an infant when he came with his parents to Pennsylvania.1 He was described as "tall, large, and fine looking, whilst all his brothers resembled their father in being shorter in stature, and of darker complexion."2 He was a member of Montgomery church and attended the branch church of Hilltown built by his father in 1737.2 His home was a log house built for him by his father before 1740 in Hilltown township.4 He inherited 250 acres from his father in 1757, of which 150 acres was the land "where he now lives," and which had been bought from Rowland Ellis in 1725, 50 acres bought from Benjamin Phillips in 1728, and 50 acres out of the Langhorne tract. He purchased an additional 479 acres. Much of this territory was northwest of Fairhill, and on the slope which descends northerly towards the valley of the Perkiomen. He was one of the few in Hilltown who owned slaves.7,8
