     Martha Emily 'Mattie' Day was born on 9 June 1857 in Dayton, Liberty County, Texas.2,1,3 She was the daughter of Isaiah Cates Day and Martha Caroline Munson.1 She married Joseph William Davis in 1873.1,4 She died on 8 February 1940 in Dayton at age 82.2,3 She was buried in Glenwood Cemetery, Houston, Harris County, Texas.3
