Carrie Munson
Carrie Armour Munson was born on 30 August 1905 in Angleton, Brazoria County, Texas.1 She was the daughter of Hillen Armour Munson and Lilla Mary Cox.1,2 She married George Hobson Roberts, a widower with three children, "in the early '30s."1 She died on 6 November 1991 in Houston, Harris County, Texas, at age 86.3 She was buried in Munson Cemetery, Bailey's Prairie, Brazoria County, Texas.4

Carrie grew up in Angleton and graduated from Angleton High School. She attended the University of Texas where she earned a teaching certificate, and she taught school in Angleton. She and George lived in Houston where Carrie completed her B. S. degree at the University of Houston. They had no children together, but they raised George's three, George Jr., Stephen Lindsey, and Patsey Alice. During the late 1940s, they used a small home on the Bailey’s Prairie land near the site of the original Ridgely Plantation home of Mordello and Sarah Munson, Carrie's grandparents, as a weekend and holiday retreat. As the years passed, they enlarged this home until they retired there in a lovely, large home in the early 1950s. Bascom and Jessie, Carrie's brother and sister-in-law, built nearby a few years later, and for twenty-five years the two couples lived in retirement at “the old home place”.2
