     Mary Alice Owens was born circa 1858 in Mississippi.1 She was the daughter of Thomas Jackson Owens and Celia Ann Alice Horn.1 She married Wiley Sanford Thornton in June 1874.2 She died on 3 September 1885.2 She was buried in Old Rehoboth Cemetery, near Young, Freestone County, Texas.2
