John Deberry was the son of Peter Deberry and Mary Brantley.2 He married Jane Sowerby, daughter of John Sowerby and Lydia Norwood, before 2 January 1726/27.1,3 His will was probated at February Court in 1763 in Northampton County, North Carolina.4 His will was proved in February 1763 in Northampton County, North Carolina.5

John Deberry was mentioned in his father Peter Deberry's will dated 30 December 1712 in Isle of Wight County, Virginia.6
On 4 and 5 May 1716, John Deberry deeded away the land in Isle of Wight County inherited from his mother Mary Deberry and his grandfather Edward Brantley.7
On 20 April 1745, he was granted 200 acres of land in Northampton County, North Carolina.
John Deberry was appointed a Justice of Northampton County, North Carolina, 11 October 1749.8
He was also a Captain in the militia of the county, as shown by his will which was dated 2 December 1762. The will leaves over 1000 acres of land and nine negro slaves to his nine children.9,10
