Robert Simmons was born circa 1763. He was the son of John Simmons and Ann Pickens.1 He married Ann Miller, daughter of Robert Miller and Jean (Jane) Pickens, on 8 September 1781 in Abbeville District, South Carolina.1 He died in 1830 in Washington Parish, Louisiana.1 He was buried in Morris-McCain Cemetery, near Franklinton, Washington Parish, Louisiana.1

Heirs of Robert Simmons entered into an agreement with Robert M. Simmons dated 13 January 1844 at Washington Parish, Louisiana, whereby Robert M. Simmons relinquished all right, title and interest in the personal property of the estate to the other heirs who signed the agreement, and the other heirs relinquished their right in the tract of land "whereon the deceased died bounded on the west by the Bogue Chitto, north by Jesse Day, East by R. M. Simmons, South by J. M. Simmons," provided R. M. Simmons was to be responsible to the absent heirs (Elizabeth Wills, Jane Rautsen, John Simmons, Anna Williams.) Signed by W. W.
